Starlight Topical Solution (3% Hydroquinone) is a skin bleaching preparation. It has been prescribed for your hyperpigmentation, excessive coloration, or "brownspots" (freckles, "liver spots") and pigmentation spots caused by pregnancy or use of oral contraceptives.

Test for allergy by applying Starlight to a small portion of your skin at or near the affected areas as directed in this brochure. Do this test only once. If no redness or itching occurs within 48 hours after application, begin using your prescription of Starlight as directed.

IF ANY IRRITATION OR REACTION OCCURS AT ANY TIME, DISCONTINUE USE AND CALL THE OFFICE.

Apply Starlight twice a day every day, first after washing your face, unless directed otherwise, to achieve the results you want. Your pigmentation problem occurs deep within your skin. You are not going to see overnight results.

The bleaching process will take many weeks, probably several months. Be patient and follow the routine outlined:

In the morning:

1. Wash your face.

2. Apply Starlight by tilting the bottle and rubbing the applicator over the affected area gently. Do not rub hard, and void the eye area. Be sure to apply enough Starlight to wet the affected area thoroughly. Allow it to dry and be absorbed into the skin.

3. Apply a sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every morning. 4. Apply your regular cosmetics if you wish.

In the evening:

1. Wash your face.

2. Apply Starlight as above, and allow it to dry and be absorbed in the skin; again don't rub hard, and avoid the eye area, every evening. 3. Apply your night moisturizer, if you wish.

Remember, sunlight can be a major contributor to your pigmentation problems.

Increased exposure to the sun will only make your condition worse. To protect your skin from the sun's damaging rays, use a sunscreen (SPF30 or higher) every morning. You should avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun. If you must be outdoors for an extended period of time, reapply your sunscreen frequently and wear protective clothing in the sun to avoid repigmentation.

Should you have any difficulties or skin irritation at any time during this treatment, discontinue use and call the office. If no improvement is seen after three months of use, discontinue use and call the office.

The depigmenting effect of this product may not be noticeable on very dark skin. Starlight should not be used on children under 12 years of age. Keep this a all other medication out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with the eyes.
