Grenz Ray or "ultra-soft X-Ray" is a painless, fast, safe and effective treatment. It is used for inflammatory skin conditions, very superficial skin cancers, and certain other disorders such as "embarrassing itching." Often, relief is achieved after only one treatment. The usual series of treatments consists of one Grenz Ray exposure weekly for three to four weeks. The series may be repeated again in six months, if necessary. Sometimes treatment every other day for five or ten sessions is indicated. Grenz Rays are so superficial in their action that they only penetrate the top half millimeter of the skin, about the thickness of paper. Because of this fact, lead shielding is not used in Grenz Ray therapy. After therapy, temporary reddening, like a mild sunburn, may occur with an increase in the pigment of skin like a temporary tan. If you have any questions about Grenz Ray treatments, please call at any time. |
